Movie Night Blog Hop

Welcome to Red Carpet Studio's One Year Anniversary Celebration!! We're starting the party off right with a blog hop, but don't forget we also have games and prizes going on in our Facebook event group

This weekend our design team is sharing with you inspiring projects for movie nights! Invitations, decorations, and more, you'll leave the hop wanting to have a movie night of your very own.

If you've come from Red Carpet Studio, you're in the right place!

I made a movie night invitation and a popcorn container for the guests!

The popcorn container was super easy to make, its a file I found in the Silhouette store. I used solid Recollections cardstock for the stripes and label, and then adhered the Popcorn! using pop dots, and of course, filled it with popcorn. :)

The digital stamp I used on the invitation is called "Miss Hollywood," and she's from The Paper Nest Dolls. (Pssst - everyone who participates in the entire hop receives her for free in their goodie bags!) and I colored her with my Copics. I left her dress, shoes, and accessories white to mimic the classic picture of Marilyn Monroe, which this little cutie is inspired by. Papers on the invitation are from Bazzil and My Mind's Eye, and I embellished with wood veneer stars (which I then embellished with Silver Stickles), rhinestones, and enamel dots. The movie genre paper inside the invitation (where the actual invite would go) is a digital stamp from Get Inky! Stamps (which also comes in your goodie bags - yay!). I added a strip of film reel washi tape, and the 'You're Invited' was also cut with my Silhouette.

This weekend (and our challenges) wouldn't be anything without our fabulous sponsors! Those who comment on every stop of the hop are eligible to win these wonderful prizes:

Disney Classics Cricut Cartridge

12x12 Disney Specialty Paper

"That's Entertainment" Stamp Set

$20 Gift Certificate

Besties of Oz Collection - 7 Digital Stamps

Insta-Live, Love, Dream Stamp Set

And now for the part you've been waiting for... everyone who hops receives a FREE digital goodie bag! Yup, you heard that right! The contents of our goodie bag can be viewed HERE on our Facebook page. Just be sure to leave your email address when you hop and we'll have it emailed to you by the end of the weekend. :)

Winners of the sponsored prizes will be announced at Red Carpet Studio on Tuesday September 3rd.

Today, Tomorrow, Always...

Normally I would start this post with "Happy Wednesday," but it's a sad Wednesday since it's the last Whimsical Wednesday challenge, and also my last post as a Whimsical Designs design team member. I've been on the team since January and have truly loved getting to know Stephanie and the rest of the girls, and working with such fun stamp sets.

Our last challenge is to use something old and new on a project. I chose to create a tag using some Authentique paper that was new to my collection, and some old crinkle ribbon and lace from my stash.

I covered a tag with paper from Authentique's "Grace" line and distressed the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink by Tim Holtz, I love the dimension it gives the tag. The 'nothing sweeter than you' sticker came with the paper collection, and I embellished with a strip of polka dot paper, some lace, and a ribbon tied around the top of the tag.

The "Today, Tomorrow, Always..." sentiment is from the "With Love" stamp set by Whimsical Designs.

Our sponsor this week is The Paper Parade, and one lucky winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to their shop!

It's been an absolute pleasure being on the team and I'm sure going to miss creating for these challenges every week! Stephanie has been awesome to work with and I wish her the best of luck as she returns to work and finishes up her Master's degree, I'm so happy for her! Hopefully this isn't the last you'll see of Whimsical Wednesday challenges. :)

It's Raining...

Happy Sunday! Are you all having a great weekend? It's actually not raining here, it's HOT! Where was this warm weather a few weeks ago when the high was only in the 70s every day?! Mother Nature is strange sometimes...

I'm all settled into my new home (yay!) and now that I've got a feel for my new living space, I can start working on some decor pieces, which I'm pretty excited about. I went to Michaels this morning and picked up some canvases - it'll be my first time creating wall art! That'll be my project for next weekend, so stay tuned for a post - as long as the pieces turn out okay. :)

I only had a little bit of time to get crafty this weekend, but I managed to get a card finished for this week's sympathy card challenge at Peachy Keen. No matter how busy my schedule is, I always make time to play along in their super fun challenges each week.

Sympathy cards are a challenge for me, mostly since I'm used to making bright and cheerful cards. I did the best I could to still pull some brighter colors into the card, while still being sympathetic. The sentiment is from Sweet Stamp Shop. The set comes with an umbrella too, but I wanted to make my own umbrella so I could add a Peachy face. :) The umbrella is cut from the April Showers Cricut cartridge at 2.5" and I stamped a face from PK-493 Everyday Character Face Parts. Papers are from Echo Park's "This & That" collection, and I embellished with pearls and 3 Girl Jam crinkle ribbon.

I'm off to get some more homework done (I can tell it's going to be a crazy semester!) and then I'm hoping to get started on my first Project Life layout, so I can share it with you all this week!

Have a great rest of your evening. :)

Got Cake?

This week's challenge at Whimsical Designs involves one of my favorite things of all time... GLITTER!

For this fun, glittery challenge I used the Chef Ellie digital stamp from our sponsor, The Paper Nest Dolls, along with some 'Everyday Moments' paper by Teresa Collins. No idea why but I'm so in love with the blue/yellow combo!

The paper already had glitter treatment in it, but for some extra sparkle I added glitter to the enamel dots and also around the border of the sentiment, which is from Whimsical's 'Everyday Sentiments' stamp set.

As previously mentioned, our sponsor for this week's challenge is The Paper Nest Dolls, and one lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to their shop, good for both digital and rubber stamps!

Can't wait to see how you add some sparkle to your projects! :)

Happy Birthday 3D Box

Hey crafters! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. :) I got settled in my new home and even managed to find some crafty time to play along in this week's challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps - create a 3D pet-themed project.

I made a 3D birthday box using a file from the Silhouette store and Peachy Keen's August stamp set of the month - too cute! Both the cat and the sentiment are from that set. I colored the kitty with copics E31, E33, and E35, and added some Flower Soft to his tummy to make it look extra soft. :) I paper pieced the party hat and added Turquoise Stickles to the top of it.

The base of the box is made out of white cardstock, and the lid out of yellow cardstock. I embellished with some twine and Cinnamon Stickles, and created the bow using paper from Echo Park's "This & That" collection, which is also where the party hat paper piecing came from. For a final touch, I added a piece of CANDi to the center of the bow.

Have a great rest of your day! :)

1 + 2 = Stickles Blog Hop

Welcome to the 1 + 2 = Stickles Blog Hop brought to you by the All that Stickles design team!

Back to school is just around the corner, and what better way to start off the school year then with a bit of sparkle?! Today the design team is showcasing all sorts of glittery back to school projects that kiddos and teachers will love!

If you've come from All that Stickles, you're in the right place!

For my project, I made some pencil toppers! Wouldn't these be cute as a centerpiece on tables in a classroom?!

The apple and the 'school days' sentiment are from a cling rubber stamp set I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby months ago, it felt good to finally open it and put it to use!

I colored the apple with Copics R22, R24, R29, and R59, and used Green Stickles on the leaves. I also added some blue twine to complete the traditional red/yellow/blue/green school color palette. I added some red fabric tape to the plastic tube as well as a last minute embellishment.

We have blog candy for those who are a follower of All that Stickles and leave a comment on every stop of the hop! Winners will be announced Wednesday August 21st at All that Stickles.

Doing the Happy Dance For You

Happy Hump Day! It's also my last day in Illinois, I'll be headed to Iowa tomorrow! Classes start next week and I'm excited for a change of scenery, even if it means having to go back to writing papers, studying, and all the other yucky stuff that comes with being a student. :)

Anyways, on to my project for today! Whimsical Designs is having a bingo challenge (I love these), and we're challenging you to create a project using at least 3 items from our bingo board:

I chose to use Stickles, stamps (both digital and clear), and ribbon on my card:

The digital stamp I used is Ginene from Paper Pretties, who happens to be our sponsor this week. I colored her with Copics and put her on an action wobble so that she's really dancing!

The sentiment I used is from Whimsical's "Everyday Sentiments" stamp set. Both the ribbon and papers are from my stash.

Paper Pretties is sponsoring 5 digis of the winner's choice! Fun!

I'm off to finish one final project before I pack up the rest of my crafty stuff, have a great rest of your day and hope to see you playing along in our bingo challenge!

I Miss You!

Hey crafty friends! I'm in the middle of packing, (I know, I know, it's one in the morning), but I needed a break and thought I'd share with you the cards I made for this week's fun sketch challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps!

I had so much fun with this sketch that I decided to make two cards instead of one!

Okay, okay, so even though the sketch was really fun to play with, I made two of the same card for two coworkers that chipped in and put together a really sweet gift basket for me on my last night of work. I was super happy Peachy Keen shipped the brand new Howling Puppy stamp set so fast, because it came just in time to create for this challenge! Better yet, both of my former *tear* coworkers are dog lovers and I'm missing them already, so this set couldn't have been more perfect!

I colored the puppy using Copics E13, E15, E17, and E18, and added some Nut Brown Flower Soft to his ears and tail. It was my first time using Flower Soft and I absolutely loved it! You'll definitely be seeing more of it on future projects. :)

Papers on both of these cards are from Echo Park's "Springtime" collection, and I used some soft pink ribbon from my stash along with enamel dots as embellishments. The sentiment is also from the Howling Puppy set.

Back to work... thanks for reading! :)

Kissing

Happy Monday! Everyone have a good weekend? I spent most of it doing some much-needed relaxing, and got some crafting done as well. I've got some laundry to do this afternoon and a bit of crafting to finish up, and then I'm off to the Chicago White Sox game tonight! It's been a while since I've been to a game, so I'm pretty excited. :)

One of the projects I got done this weekend is a card for the current Use What You Have Challenge at Sweet Stamp Shop. I've been a faithful participant in these challenges for a couple months now and love digging through my stash each week to see what I can find!

I am in LOVE with how the background of this card turned out! I used my stash of Tim Holtz Distress Inks (see below) to create the background. I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Barn Door. To give it a watery look I applied each of the inks on wax paper, sprayed them with water, and then pressed the paper onto the wet ink until the paper started to absorb the color. For faster drying I used my heat gun, but you could also let it sit overnight. As for the hearts, I stamped a teeny, tiny heart stamp (it came in a Gnomies sample set I won from a UWYHC a while back) in Spun Sugar and made the hearts look like they were floating up from the bottom.

My "stash" of Distress Inks.. I may or may not have all of them. :) Because I've only been crafting for a couple of years, my stash is nowhere near as abundant as other crafters. Sure, there are a few things I bought when I first started crafting that are still lying around, but for the most part my "stash" is constantly growing, making it harder to find "old" things to use. Since I'm a girl who likes to have every color of everything (hence all the Distress Inks, Liquid Pearls, Stickles, you get the picture) I like to find ways to use my stash of these since they spend most of their time on my shelf. Coming up with techniques like the background on this card is a fun way to ensure they get used!

Now I bet you're wondering where I got these awesome stamps, right?! Both the sentiment and the two cuties are from Sweet Stamp Shop's "Kiss Me" stamp set - one of my favorites! I stamped the sentiment directly on the background once it had dried. As for the kiddos, I stamped them on white cardstock in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then cut them out and adhered them to the card using pop dots. Love it!

I'm off to get my laundry started, have a great rest of your day and thanks for stopping by!

Get Inky Stamps Spooktacular Blog Hop

Welcome to Get Inky's Spooktacular Blog Hop!

Thanks so much for joining us! If you've come from Thia's blog, you're in the right place!

Along your blog hopping journey you will see some brilliant hand crafted works of art brought to you by designers from Get Inky! Stamps, and we know you're going to love each one of them! The first stop on the hop is Thia from Blue Moon Creation, so be sure to start there! We are THRILLED you could hop along with us, and are even giving you a 20% off your entire Etsy shop purchase of Get Inky stamps! Just use the coupon code 2013SPOOKTACULAR20 at checkout.

For my "spooktacular" project I made a 3D witch hat!

The file is from the Silhouette store. The base is black cardstock and the purple polka dot paper is from DCWV's Hallowen & Fall collection. I made a small tag and stamped the "Best Witches for a Happy Halloween" sentiment, which is from Get Inky's new Halloween set. I tied it to the hat with black twine and used Seedless Preserves and Black Soot Distress Inks to distress the edges.

I used the spider web stamp from the new Halloween set and heat embossed it using white embossing powder to give the hat a spookier look. It looks sort of yellow here because of the green paper, but I promise its white like in the picture above!

And of course we have blog candy! To be eligible to win, you must:
  • Become a follower (if you aren't already) of the Get Inky! Stamps blog
  • Become a follower of each design team member's blog (if you aren't already) and leave a comment on each stop of the hop
1 Winner will receive the Halloween stamp set, which you can preview at the last stop of the hop!
Please Note: Winner is responsible for shipping costs and will be billed via email through PayPal.
