Do You Speak Cricut Saturday - Groovy Times

Welcome to this week’s edition of Do You Speak Cricut Saturday. Every Saturday will feature a different Cricut cartridge review from one of the Made Especially For You design team members. This feature was added to the blog in order to give potential cartridge buyers a better idea of what each cart has to offer. Click here to view last week's Wild Card cartridge review. This week, I'm going to share my review of the Groovy Times cartridge.

The Groovy Times cartridge a variety of "groovy" images with flair and many layers. This cartridge is perfect for 1960's/1970's-themed parties, invitations, decorations, and much more. Take a look at the images this cartridge can cut:

While there are many groovy images, there are also images that can be used on non-groovy projects as well, such the flowers, the space images, the guitar, and a few others. As a Cricut owner who normally only buys cartridges that can be used for many different occasions and projects, this cartridge tends to be one that sits on the shelf more often than the others. However, the cartridge has a variety of other features that do add to the versatility of the cartridge.

The other features include: Layer 1, Layer 2, Silhouette, Phrase, Shape Phrase, and Shadow.

The Layer 1 and Layer 2 features can add great dimension and color to any project. Using the main shape and both layer features, I cut this peace sign:

The Silhouette feature gives each outlines each image rather than cutting the entire shape. This is the silhouette version of the same peace sign:

The Phrase feature has a different phrase for each image, with phrases such as "Rock On," "Flower Power," "Far Out," and "Peace." Here I've cut a phrase also using the Shadow feature:

The Shape Phrase feature adds a shape behind each phrase. This feature has a different font than the Phrase feature. Here you can see there is a shape behind the same phrase shown above, and also in a different font:

This cartridge has endless possibilities for creating projects because of all the different layers and shapes it can cut. It's also a great cartridge to use with only solid color papers since there are so many different layers and it's often easier to layer solid colors than trying to coordinate patterned papers. I'd highly recommend this cartridge if you're looking for one with great versatility and multiple layering features.
