21st Birthday Blog Hop - Day 2

This weekend we are celebrating my 21st birthday with some fun and creative, birthday/alcohol-themed projects! It's not 21 without a drink or two, right?! And what better way to celebrate than with a blog hop with all my crafty friends?! :)

For my second project, I actually created a 21st birthday card for a friend of mine who has her 21st at the end of the month. 

It's my first shaker card! I had to look up a couple tutorials to make sure I was doing it right, and it's actually super easy! Not sure why I've never tried it before. I cut the '21' using my Silhouette, adhered transparency to the inside (actually a piece of cellophane bag that I cut out) and then added the sequins and adhered the back to it. Ta da!

I misted the front of the card with some of Heidi Swapp's Color Shine in Gold to pull out the gold for the sequins. It's simple, yet classy! Perfect for my friend's style. :)

21st Birthday Blog Hop - Day 1

This weekend we are celebrating my 21st birthday (which is today, the 7th!) with some fun and creative, birthday/alcohol-themed projects! It's not 21 without a drink or two, right?! And what better way to celebrate than with a blog hop with all my crafty friends?! :)

For my first project (I'll be sharing another tomorrow) I created a not-so-birthday-themed card, but had to pull in some alcohol somewhere during this hop!

The stamp is called "Wine & Friends" and is from Unity Stamp Co., who happens to be one of our sponsors! I colored it with Copics R56, R59, R83, R85, E35, and T0 and added glossy accents to the wine glasses to make them shine. 

Papers are from the My Mind's Eye "Blush" 6x6 collection and I embellished with crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl Jam and pearls from Miriam's Crafting Supplies. (Hint: Those may be some of our sponsors!)

I created two projects for the hop using 3GJ's fabulous new products:

(I apologize for the shadows in my pictures - it has seriously been cloudy here ALL week and this was the best I could do with the little sunlight we had yesterday. Darn Mother Nature!)

The first project I made is a tag using the new Ribbon Candy Bundle and a super cute Christmas Flair button. I cut a tag using my Silhouette and embellished with Lawn Fawn's "Peace, Joy, Love" collection. I created a small library card pocket also using my Silhouette and included a smaller card with a sentiment. 

For my second project, I created a simple card using Jute Ribbon. I cut a Christmas tree with my Silhouette, distressed the edges, and glued pearls on the tree to act as ornaments. I covered the star on the tree using Champagne Stickles. The Kraft cardstock is embossed with snowflakes, and I used a Copic clear Spica pen to add glitter to the embossed flakes. I love the subtle sparkle effect this gives the card, and think my Spica pen will be an often used tool this winter. :)

Give Thanks Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to Whimsical Designs' Give Thanks Blog Hop!

You should have arrived from Stephanie's blog, which is also the beginning of the hop, so if you need to start the beginning of the hop, please head over there. :)

For my project, I decided to work ahead a bit and create a Project Life layout for the week of Thanksgiving. I've worked on my PL album here and there since the semester started and really plan on catching up over my holiday break, and then making it a regular feature on my blog starting in 2014.

My mom's side of the family always has an early Thanksgiving the Sunday before Thanksgiving day, and this is what this spread will primarily be about.

Obviously there aren't any pictures yet since the event hasn't happened, but I've embellished everything so pictures are ready to be put in place, and within just a few minutes the spread will be complete. I used a mixture of cards from PL kits and also made a few of my own cards using Echo Park's "Fall Reflections" paper collection, which has been an absolute favorite of mine this fall. (And yes - that's a feather in the top right of the layout).

These two cards that have writing on them are from Project Life's Mini Seasons Kit. It has lots of fun cards for holidays year round! I wrote some of my favorite Thanksgiving foods on the menu card, and wrote about a tradition we have every year. I cut the turkey silhouette using my Cameo and added some washi tape to the plaid card.

This leaf was cut using my Cameo as well, and I used Champagne Stickles around the border of the leaf. I also used some gold metallic twine from Two Berry Creative to accent the leaf, and adhered it to the card using Glossy Accents. 

This top card will be used to document the events of the holiday, and I used the turkey from the silhouette cut-out as an embellishment, adding a bit of Champagne Stickles to the turkey's feathers. I believe this 4x6 card is also from the Mini Seasons Kit.
