Go Fish Christmas Challenge!

As much as I know I'll regret saying this give or take a few weeks... I just love making Christmas cards! This is my favorite time of year and I love having the opportunity to use all my fun Christmas-themed embellishments and cartridges that I anxiously wait to use all year. I've been making Christmas cards like crazy lately and know that it will burn off soon and I'll be anxious to create other projects... but until then I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

I didn't own the Create a Critter cartridge last Christmas, but when I got it this past spring I knew I just had to make a card using the adorable reindeer! I thought this week's anything goes Christmas challenge at the Go Fish Challenge Blog was the perfect opportunity. :)

The card is 4.5" by 6" and created with Kraft card stock, patterned and solid colored paper from Recollections, pop dots, and Stickles (Christmas Red, Green, and Frosted Lace). The 'Happy Holidays' sentiment is one I picked up last year at Hobby Lobby and the accent its on is cut from the Elegant Edges cartridge. I love the added sparkle from the Stickles!

I've also entered this card in this week's Inspired By Stamping Inspiration Challenge. The challenge is to create a project using red/green/white as the main colors, inspired by this gorgeous photo:

Time for me to go finish up some more Christmas cards!

Don't forget to join us in this week's challenge! :)

Thanksgiving Place Cards

One side of my family celebrates Thanksgiving early every year the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and since it's at my house I decided to make place cards for everyone while also using them as my DT project for this week's home decor challenge at the Go Fish Challenge Blog. :)

The place cards are really simple and were made using the Artiste & Art Philosophy cartridges - both the base and frames were cut from Artiste and the leaves were cut from Art Philosophy. I also used gold Stickles to give them some sparkle. I had to make 15 total but only a few are pictured here.

Make sure to stop by Go Fish to share what other home decor projects the design team ladies have created to share with you! I'd love if you played along in the challenge as well. :)

Gobble Until You Wobble!

This week's challenge at GoFish is a color challenge!

It's November 1st, which means I can officially start making Thanksgiving projects! Originally I was going to make a candy corn project for this challenge, but then I realized it would be November already and I could officially make Thanksgiving cards! Boy how this year has flown by.

I decided to make a cute and simple Thanksgiving card using my favorite new toy... Action Wobbles!

Here's the little guy in action!

The turkey is cut at 3" from the Create a Critter 2 cartridge and 'Gobble' is cut at 1.25" from the Create a Critter cartridge. I embossed the background with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder using my Cuttlebug added a little bit of glitter to the turkey for some extra sparkle. :) The white paper is also inked with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by - hope to see you playing along!

Go Fish Summer Photo Challenge

Happy Wednesday! Go Fish Challenge Blog is having a summer photo inspiration challenge from the 15th of August through the end of the month, and a new challenge will begin on September 1st. Here's a closer look at the challenge:

This photo is absolutely gorgeous and there are so many different way to be inspired by it! One of the first thing I always do when creating projects for photo inspiration challenges is look at the colors and see if I have matching papers in my stash, and then I go from there and try to implement other aspects of the photo as well. Here's what I came up with:

I used the colors from the photo to create a beach-themed card and on the bottom tan portion of the card I embossed it and then used white glitter to make it look like sand. :) I love the way it turned out!

Stop by Go Fish to see what other summery creations the design team has for you, we would love if you played along with us!

GoFish! Thank You Challenge

This week's challenge over at the GoFish! Challenge Blog is all about saying thanks... using your favorite color! Now, as probably one of the most indecisive people you'll EVER meet, I'd have to say choosing a color for this challenge was more difficult than creating the card itself! For the past few years I'd have to say my favorite color is maroon (and I can NEVER find maroon-colored paper) but throughout my entire childhood my favorite color was always blue. To make things a little easier on myself, I chose to make a blue thank you card rather than a maroon thank you card. :)

The image of this card in my head before I made this card was different than how it actually turned out.. don't you hate when that happens?! Sometimes it can be for the good but other times it can be for the bad. In this case, I'm leaning a bit more towards the 'bad' side. Originally I planned on stamping the 'Thank You' sentiment, but unfortunately could only find my 'you' clear stamp and not the 'thank' stamp, so I chose to handwrite it instead, which you can barely see in the picture, although it's easy to see in person.

The hippo is cut at 3" from the Create a Critter cartridge and I made the flags by hand. The background paper is from the Echo Park 'Hello Summer' collection.

Jaded Blossom is this week's sponsor at GoFish! and one lucky winner will receive a prize from them. They do have a super cute stamp collection, if I do say so myself. :) We'd love to see you join us for our thank you color challenge!

Go Fish Challenge #17

It's my first "official" day of summer and I couldn't be more happy! I'm so excited to spend my summer working on cards and trying out new projects and techniques. Since I have much more free time now, I've also been looking for more challenges to play along with, and I recently came across the Go Fish Challenge Blog. They're a bi-monthly challenge blog that posts a new challenge on the 1st and 15th every month. I've posted their badge on my lefthand sidebar if you wanna stop by and take a look. :)

Their current challenge is a color challenge, my favorite! :)

I created this brown graduation card for the challenge:

(It's hard to see because the glitter gives off such a bad glare, but the owl is holding a banner that says 'You Did It!' I tried to take a close-up so you can see it better.

Go Fish is also having a design team call until May 30th, and I'm linking this card to both the design team call and the color challenge. :)

What I Used To Make The Card:
- Brown and gold cardstock from Recollections
- Patterned papers from the DCWV High School Mat Stack
- Happy Graduation Cricut cartridge (the owl banner is cut at 2.25")
- Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge (the 2012 numbers are cut at .5" using the Marker Shadow feature)
- Gold ribbon
- Wood star piece painted with gold acrylic paint
- Gold glitter

Thanks so much for reading, have a a great day!
