Snow Much Fun!

Happy Sunday evening! Did you all have a great weekend? I taught a Copic class yesterday at The Scrapbooking Studio - so much fun! Since returning home I've been working nonstop on final exam projects, this week is finals week - the most dreaded week of every college student's semester. Thankfully my finals are all projects instead of tests, but it's still a lot of work.

During a homework break I decided to get started on the new Peachy Keen Challenge and their December Release challenge, and thought I'd share both with you here to save me some time so I can get back to my schoolwork.. only 5 more days and then I'm FREE!

The December Release Challenge is to create a birthday card... here's my take:

Isn't this snowman cupcake the cutest?! It's from Peachy Keen's "Yummies" stamp set. The papers are from Echo Park's "Take a Note" collection and the sentiment is from Get Inky Stamps. I colored the cupcake with Copics E25, E47, E49, R05, R08, B91, B95 and B97. I also added a few dabs of Bisque Liquid Pearls as a final embellishment.

This week's regular Peachy Keen challenge is a 3D Ornament challenge, here's what I came up with:

Snowflake ornaments! Last winter at Michael's I found some chipboard snowflakes in their dollar bins and grabbed a few packages. I painted them with white acrylic paint and stamped faces with the smallest faces in Peachy Keen's "Snow Cuties" stamp set. I also brushed on a layer of clear glitter paint, and used twine from Two Berry Creative to hang them on the tree.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

Well, enough play and time to get back to work. I'm creating a board game that involves using the Print and Cut feature on my Cameo, so at least my next project is somewhat craft-related!

Have a lovely rest of your evening and a great start to your week! :)

Season's Greetings!

Happy Tuesday! Although it feels like a Monday for me since I'm recovering from a long weekend. :) As much as I love having the extra day, it makes it extra hard to get back into the swing of things!

Today I'm sharing with you all a card I made for the photo inspiration challenge at Peachy Keen Stamps going on this week. Don't you love this color combo?!

I know I do! While the colors are very Christmas-y and neither is the photo (although that little bird is so pretty!) the color combination that first caught my eye was the brown/red/gold, which instantly made me think of creating something with gingerbread men.

From there I decided to use the non-traditional holiday cards and create a patterned background using snowflake stamps from Peachy Keen's November Stamp Set of the Month. As for ink, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Evergreen Boughs, Dusty Concord, Barn Door, and Scattered Straw. The sentiment is from Get Inky Stamps' 2013 Holiday stamp set.

I cut the gingerbread men at about 2.75" using a cut from Create a Critter 2. Their faces are from the PK-520 Winter Faces Assortment stamp set, and I embellished them with Liquid Pearls in White Opal, Peacock, and Rouge.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Don't Forget To Say Thanks

Happy Veteran's Day and 11/11! (And happy long weekend to me!) I've been quite the busy bee this long weekend, too. Friday night I went out to dinner with a few friends, which was much needed after the stressful week I had. Saturday I taught a Copic class at a local scrapbooking store, and Sunday I got a hair cut and just about finished my research paper - yay! In the midst of all that I managed to get some crafting done, and wanted to share with you a card I made for the new 'Thankful' challenge at Get Inky Stamps.

I love how this card still screams Thanksgiving but features a non-traditional color combination using papers from Echo Park's "This & That" line. The Turkey digital stamp is from SKdigis. I colored the turkey with the following Copics:

E18
E25
E29
Y21
Y26
YG67
YR07
BG18

The card also goes along with the "Let's Talk Turkey" theme at All that Stickles (my challenge/inspiration blog), so I added some Golden Rod and Cinnamon Stickles to the turkey's feathers. The sentiment is from Get Inky's Joyful Jar Drinks stamp set

P.S: Both SKdigis AND Get Inky Stamps are sponsors at All that Stickles this month, so there's some awesome prizes at stake for creating fun Thanksgiving projects using Stickles!

Have a great rest of your day!

Don't Worry, Bee Happy!

Hey everyone! It's my design team day over at Get Inky Stamps and I thought I'd share with you the card I made for their current "Birds and Bees" challenge!

I'm in love with this CAS card! Both the sentiment and the bee are from Get Inky's "Buzzing Bees" stamp set. I colored the bee with Copics Y13, Y15, Y19, Y26, and added a bit of B00 to the wings to make them appear translucent.

I adhered some twine for the bee's "trail," and lastly, used my Silhouette to cut hexagons out of honeycomb paper. For a final touch, I inked the edges with Scattered Straw Distress Ink by Tim Holtz.

On a side note, things have been crazy busy around here! I start a practicum this coming week where I have to spend a couple mornings in a third grade classroom every week. It's definitely exciting, but another thing to add to my schedule.

I also finally started Project Life! I purchased a kit during an HSN special back in March and made the decision to wait until I moved to start using it, and now that I have, I've been collecting/printing pictures from the past few weeks to start putting the first pages together. Hoping to have something to share with you all by next weekend! :)

For my "spooktacular" project I made a 3D witch hat!

The file is from the Silhouette store. The base is black cardstock and the purple polka dot paper is from DCWV's Hallowen & Fall collection. I made a small tag and stamped the "Best Witches for a Happy Halloween" sentiment, which is from Get Inky's new Halloween set. I tied it to the hat with black twine and used Seedless Preserves and Black Soot Distress Inks to distress the edges.

I used the spider web stamp from the new Halloween set and heat embossed it using white embossing powder to give the hat a spookier look. It looks sort of yellow here because of the green paper, but I promise its white like in the picture above!

And of course we have blog candy! To be eligible to win, you must:

Have a Beary Special Day!

It's time for another fun challenge at Get Inky stamps! This time around we're challenging you to use ribbon on your projects, pretty simple, right?!

For the challenge I created a kids birthday card using the "Beary Special Cupcake" stamp set from Get Inky! Stamps. I colored the teddy bear with my Copics and paper pieced the cupcake wrapper using DCWV paper, which is part of the same DCWV collection as the rest of the papers used to make the card. The sprinkles on the cupcake are made with Liquid Pearls.

For embellishments I used some yellow enamel dots, and of course, ribbon! The color of the ribbon is called Latte and it's from 3 Girl Jam - my favorite crinkle ribbon company!

I have a busy day ahead of me full of crafting, organizing, and starting to pack! I move in 10 days and have a TON to get done before then. It's exciting and stressful all at the same time! I do have a few more fun posts for you this week, stay tuned for my experience at a Teresa Collins workshop, a couple of projects, and a Halloween blog hop this weekend!

As always, thanks for reading. :)

Make Lemonade :)

Happy Monday, everyone! Today I'm sharing a step card I made as my DT project for the new summer challenge at Get Inky!

What a fun card this was to make! I started by cutting the card base out of Kraft cardstock using my Silhouette. Then, I cut the lemons and the pitcher of lemonade also using my Silhouette. The small lemon slices and the sentiment are from Get Inky's "Joyful Jar Drinks" stamps set, and I stamped everything in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I gave the lemons some character by giving them faces from Peachy Keen's PK-461 Happy Lashes stamp set. For their cheeks I used Worn Lipstick Distress Ink by Tim holtz to give them the rosy look, and colored their tongues in with a red Copic marker.

The lemonade pitcher was cut out of vellum to give it a glassy look, and I added some Glossy Accents to the ice cubes, although it's hard to tell in this picture.

One last full view of the card! I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder with my Cuttlebug to add some texture on the white paper on the different "steps" of the card.

Hope to see you linking up in Get Inky's summer challenge! We love seeing all those fun summer projects you've been working on. :)

Star Spangled Cupcake

Happy Friday! Just a quick post today since I'm drafting this ahead of time... guess where I am right now?! COPIC CERTIFICATION CLASS! Woo hoo! I'll blog next week with pictures and what I thought of the two certification classes. :)

For now, I'd like to share the card I made for the Red, White, & Blue challenge going on at Get Inky! Stamps.

The cupcake is a stamp from Get Inky's "Sew Sweet Cupcakes" stamp set that I paper pieced on some patterned firework paper and white cardstock. I added some red star pearls to act as sprinkles. :) The "snap, pop, bang, boom" sentiment is a sticker from SRM Stickers.

And the cupcake is on an Action Wobble!

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to link up those patriotic projects you've been working on! You could win a 4x4 stamp set from Get Inky!

When Life Gives You Lemons...

...grab a beer and some salt!

This is the card I created as DT inspiration for the new masculine challenge going on over at the Get Inky! Challenge Blog. Creating a masculine card usually takes me a bit longer since I don't make them too often, but as soon as I saw that awesome blue and yellow argyle paper from Recollections, the card basically created itself. :)

The beer mug is a file from the Silhouette store and is adhered to the card with pop dots. I distressed the edges of all the papers and added some pearls in the corners of the card as a final embellishment.

Hope to see you playing along in the challenge! One lucky winner will even receive a 4x6 stamp set for playing along!

The first stop on the hop is Thia from Blue Moon Creation, so be sure to start there! We are THRILLED you could hop along with us! Have fun!

I chose to make a card with a repeating theme (polka dots) and sentiment:

Papers used on this card are from the Everyday Moments collection by Teresa Collins, which I absolutely love. Blue & yellow seem to be a favorite color combo of mine lately! The "Sew Sweet... Thank You" sentiment is from Get Inky's Sew Sweet stamp set.

I cut the twine spool out of gray cardstock using my Cameo and wrapped some Twinery twine around the spool and used a MME pin. Buttons are also from the same Teresa Collins collection. :) The edges of the papers are distressed in Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink by Tim Holtz. The scallops at the bottom are circles cut with a 1" circle punch.

Here's the inside of the card. I'll be giving this card to a coworker as a thank you for a super sweet graduation gift she gave me. :) The twine around the paper is 'Ocean' from The Twinery - same as on the front of the card.

Like the Flowers In a Garden...

I hope all you moms out there had a lovely Mother's Day! I saw a movie with my mom and then we had a delicious dinner. :) Today I'm sharing with you a card I made for a couple occassions - our new Get Inky! die cut challenge, the Peachy Keen challenge this week, and it's the card I made for my sister to give to our mom.

I love the bright, bold colors of this paper. So fun! And definitely non-traditional "Mother's Day colors," which I like because it's always fun to do something different.

The paper flowers are from my stash and the crinkle ribbon is new from 3 Girl Jam.

The sentiment is a digital stamp from Get Inky! that I printed on white cardstock and then rounded the corners. I colored in the flowers using Copics Y26, BG18, YG25, and YR27. The green scallop is embellished with Cantaloupe Liquid Pearls.

I accented the card with a gardening shovel to match the sentiment and adhered it to the card using pop dots. I couldn't resist giving it an adorable Peachy face! The eyes are from set PK-573 Paper Doll Faces and the mouth is from set PK-493 Everyday Character Face Parts and More

Hope to see you linking up at Get Inky!

Just BEE-cause...

It's my DT posting day over at Get Inky! Stamps, and today I'm excited to share with you a treat bag I made using their adorable Buzzing Bees stamp set!

To make the treat bag topper, I cut a 4x4 inch square out of white cardstock and scored it in half so that it would fold easily. Then I cut a piece of Recollections cardstock for the background, and stamped the bee right on the patterend paper. I colored him with Copics Y23, and Y26, which luckily were both a perfect match for the paper.

Then I stamped the sentiment the trail (also from the same set) and added some Star Dust Stickles to the bee's wings and also to the flower that the bee had just visited. :) The pearls are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.

I filled the treat bag with lemon drops - I should've thought about what candy I was going to use before I adhered the paper... do you know how hard it is to find yellow and/or black candy?! Thankfully one of my crafty friends gave me the lemon drop idea, and I'll be sending her my dentist bill for when I have to pay for all the cavities I'm going to get from snacking on all the leftovers! :)

This treat bag is also being used as inspiration for our current Get Inky! challenge - Fabulous Floral Fun. Create a project using flowers for a chance to win a stamp set from Get Inky! AND everyone who enters the challenge receives their choice of THREE free digis! How cool is that?!

Thanks for dropping by! Have a great weekend. :)

Have a Rockin' Birthday!

Happy Friday! It's my DT posting day over at Get Inky! Stamps, and today I'd like to share the card with you I made for our current bling challenge!

This challenge inspired me to create a birthday card for my sister. I used the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from the Joyful Jar Drinks stamp set.

The plaid paper is from Recollections (bought it forever ago in a single sheet sale - so happy to finally use it) and cut the guitar with my Cameo. Added some twine around the border and blinged up the guitar a bit - and ta da!

I also added a chipboard musical note that I added covered in Silver Ice Stickles to match the glittered accents on the guitar. Stickles are my favorite!

Don't forget to link up your bling projects! One lucky winner will receive this awesome stamp set:

Hope to see you gettin' inky (and sparkly) with us!
